You have probably heard of Facebook, Youtube and Twitter

However, there are more that younger children use like Habbo Hotel, seemingly innocent................Parents/Carers need to look at this site in more detail.

OoVoo - again Parents/Carers need to look at this site in more detail

and these are just a few of the very many sites out there.

Be kind online: before you say what’s on your mind ask yourself is it kind?

Look out for your friends: if you see something mean online then report it,block the person and tell a parent or another trusted adult.

Respect each other’s differences online: we're not all the same, and that's what makes us great!

Play your part: help make the internet a kind place for everyone! What can you do?

Simple rules for keeping your child safe

To keep your child safe they should:

  • ask permission before using the Internet
  • only use websites you have chosen together or a child friendly search engine
  • only email people they know
  • ask permission before opening an email sent by someone they don't know
  • not use Internet chat rooms
  • not use their real name when using games on the Internet (create a nickname)
  • never arrange to meet someone they have "met" on the Internet
  • tell you immediately if they see anything they are unhappy with
