Open Days for Prospective Parents

Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision, and we would be delighted to welcome you to Alwoodley Primary School. Our open days offer the opportunity to meet staff and pupils, explore our learning environment and discover what makes our school such a special place to learn and grow. 

Open Day 1: Saturday 7 November 2026 

9:00am to 12:00pm 

Our Saturday Open Day is designed to be flexible and informal, allowing families to arrive at any time between 9:00am and 12:00pm and explore a range of interactive stations showcasing different aspects of school life. You will be able to meet staff, speak with current pupils and discover more about our curriculum, inclusion provision, outdoor learning, school meals, extra-curricular opportunities and much more. 

The Headteacher will give short welcome presentations at 9:00am, 10:00am and 11:00am. Please select the presentation time to suit you best. Your visit does not need to begin with the presentation and you are welcome to attend one at any point during your visit.  

We are very grateful that some of our pupils will be available to attend for the morning and prospective parents will have the opportunity to speak with them about their experiences of life at Alwoodley Primary School. 

Open Day 2: Tuesday 24 November 2026 

School Day Open Event 

Our second open day offers a different experience, taking place during the school day. This event will focus on showcasing teaching and learning in action, giving families the opportunity to see our school at work and experience the vibrant atmosphere of a typical day. 

The session will begin with a short presentation from the Headteacher before families are taken on a tour of the school. 

Two time slots are available: 

9:30am 

1:30pm 

Book One or Both Events 

Families are welcome to attend either open day or both, depending on what works best for them. 

If you are unable to attend either event, please contact us at office@alwoodley.net and we will be happy to arrange an individual tour of the school. 

Nursery Open Day 

Tuesday 1 December 2026 

We are also holding a dedicated Nursery Open Day for families considering a nursery place for their child. 

Starting nursery at Alwoodley provides children with a nurturing, exciting and well-supported beginning to their educational journey. Our experienced Early Years team create an environment where children develop confidence, independence and a love of learning through play, exploration and meaningful experiences. 

For many families, a place in our Nursery is the first step in a long and successful journey through Alwoodley Primary School. Equally, if your chosen primary school does not have its own nursery, our Nursery offers an excellent opportunity to give your child a strong start before they move on to their Reception class. 

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing how we help every child flourish from the very beginning. 

Tours of our Nursery will run at 9.30, 1.30 and 4pm.
