Class NovelsWe want to the children to love reading and to experience a range of novels. Each half term we read a novel to our class. You could choose to read the same novel at home to promote an open discussion about the content and prepare your child for discussions in class. If they have particularly enjoyed a book you can use the link to search for recommendations based on similar themes or authors.
3JH are currently reading "Danny the champion of the World" by Roald Dahl as a class novel.
3LW are currently reading "The World's World's Children" by David Walliams as their class novel.
Year three are enjoying some yoga sessions this half term.

Year 3 did their final lesson on Vincent van Gogh, and used his famous painting 'Sunflowers' as their inspiration. They gave it a thoroughly modern twist!

3JH go back in time at Herd Farm!
Today 3LW had a wonderful Prehistoric trip to Herd Farm looking at artifacts from the Stone Age all the way through to the Romans, ending in a pretend battle between the Celts and the Romans!
On World Book Day today, we learnt some wonderful Geography through stories. It was very exciting. We had to design, plan and build a house that could withstand the force of a volcano!
In year 3, we have been starting our owl designs ready for 'The Great Alwoodley Throw Down' when eventually our owls will be made out of clay. What do you think to our designs?
Today year 3 became 'Historians' and researched and presented to the class, how they believed Stonehenge was built. They were incredibly knowledgeable!
In English today we did some 'freeze frame' drama around the story of 'The Lone Robot'. The children all brought their characters to life with great enthusiasm!

Today in Maths we used manipulatives to explore division facts and arrays related to different numbers!
In art this term we are learning about William Morris and his use of patterns. As it was 'Remembrance Day' the children made a poppy wreath in the style of William Morris using a repeating pattern. What do you think?
Year 3 went on a geography trail to our local woods today. We could piece together all the facts we have been learning about in our geography lessons.
