Curriculum - Spring Term
This term we are starting with a lesser known story of Roald Dahl's 'The Minpins' to continue developing our descriptive writing. We will then move on to look at a variety of texts and media such as the short film 'The Lighthouse' and the book 'Stone Age Boy' which will link to our upcoming History topic after February half term.
This term starts with continued work on multiplication and division. After this we will work on a money topic that includes learning to calculate change from a given amount. Finally we will cover pictograms and charts.
Our current topic is Rocks and Soils. We will learn to classify rocks of different types according to their properties and carry out a range of investigations. We will look at properties of different soils and learn how a fossil is created.
This half term Year 3 will be exploring the History of their local area, focusing on Harewood. The focus is to think about preserving listed and special sites of interest. We will learn about Harewood's past and consider why it should be kept for future generations. The children will look at sources of evidence to tell us about the past and think about what it was like to live in Harewood in the 1800's.
Here is our knowledge organiser below with our learning about local history at Harewood!
Our significant author.
